UMR's intentionally designed learning lab size to promote active learning; curriculum emphasis on science courses combined with relatively few science labs; and integration of the curriculum limit the resources available to address the unique needs of each incoming transfer student. By their nature transfer students arrive with individual needs dictated by their experience at other institutions. UMR's higher GPA requirement helps to emphasis the rigors of the curriculum and begin the conversation about the unique learning experience.
